2007 Harvest Update

The word I’ve gotten from many winemakers around the State is that 2007 may go down as yet another superior vintage for Washington wineries.

I know this sounds like a bit of a broken record, since several people said this same thing about the 2005 and 2006 harvests. The problem with that? Absolutely nothing…it just means that Washington is on a roll, and this year should do nothing to lessen its reputation for producing some of the finest wines in the world.

According to Washington Wine Commission Executive Director Robin Pollard, “…the 2007 grape crop was stellar, thanks to nearly ideal weather conditions and the ability of Washington growers and vintners to work together on optimum harvest times.”

The final results of the 2007 harvest are now in the hands of the State’s winemakers. But given their past track record, I’m feeling confident that we can look forward to this vintage with eager anticipation. Stay tuned.
